How to pack the perfect carry-on

Found this helpful template on Pinterest

Like a lot of people I love to travel and the one thing that is essential in any form of travel is what you take with you.

When flying what I pack in my carry-on stays pretty much the same no matter where I am going so if you want to learn a way to pack a carry-on, you came to the right place.

What bag to take?

There are many bags you can take as your carry on (that is if it fits with the airline policy size)from backpacks to duffel bags.

  • Backpacks

My personal favourite is a backpack.

It’s amazing for adventure holidays because you can pack what you need for the day and take it with you without any hassle.

It’s easy to carry and it’s way more comfortable.

Whenever I travel I always take a backpack with me (not a small one but the ones you’d take to school)

  • Duffel bag

Duffel bags are also an amazing travel bag.

They are perfect for a more relaxing holiday where you aren’t gonna be heading anywhere too much because you can fit a lot in it and keep in the hotel with everything in it.

It’s way Safer to travel with since you can keep it in the front of you so no one can open in in the back and take something important out.

And it’s easier to get stuff out while you are moving around in the airport since it’s by your side or on your front.

What are the essentials?

I have 10 essentials that I pack into my carry on for every flight.

  1. My Tablet
  2. A Book
  3. Food/Snacks
  4. Passport (obvi)
  5. Notebook and pen
  6. Lip balm
  7. Gum
  8. Travel sickness tablets
  9. Hair tie
  10. Tissue/wet wipes

  • The Tablet

I have an Amazon Fire 7 tablet which is only 7 inch and is amazing. I’m genuinely in love with it and recommend it to everyone.

I like to download movies and tv shows on Netflix and Disney plus.

Even if it’s a short flight I like to download a lot of movies and shows to have a choice once I’m in the air flying.

For my most recent flight, I downloaded a few episodes of Suits, The originals.

I downloaded the two Mamma Mia movies in case I will be in the mood to rewatch it. I downloaded Sixteen Candles since I’ve been wanting I watch it for ages.

I enjoy watching movies and shows on the plane since it makes the time fly faster and distracts me most of the time.

  • A Book

I always take a book with me, no matter where I go.

Even if I don’t read it on the flight I like to have it with me in case I’m bored on vacation and want to read something.

Right now I’m reading “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen (which you’d know if you follow my Instagram @1000wordsbye)

It’s an amazing book and I can’t wait to see what happens next. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who loves classics.

What type of books do you like? Let me know because I need more to read!!!!

  • Food and Snacks

Where I get my food depends on the time I have.

I’m not a big fan of the food on the flight. I usually just order tea or coffee.

I take snacks with me. These are usually just something small and easy to pack like fruit, biscuits or some sweets.

I also like buying food, well a sandwich meal at a local shop since they have good deals but if I don’t have time to drop by and get it there, I’d get it at a shop in the airport.

  • Passport

This is an obvious one. Like you can’t get anywhere with it, haha.

  • Notebook and Pen

I love packing a notebook and a pen.

That way if I get bored on the flight I can doodle. Or if I get an idea I have somewhere to write it.

It’s a great way to spend time and to get your creative juices flowing haha.

  • Lip balm

A lip balm is ESSENTIAL.

Been in high altitude makes my lips my lips very dry? Does that happen to anyone else?

So I always make sure to have a lip balm so I can apply it during my flight.

  • Gum

Gum is very good to unclog and prevent your ears from clogging during the flight.

I always chew it during lift-off and landing. (Or drinking water in small sips helps too).

  • Tissue and wet wipes

Those pocket size tissues are the best for travel because you never know when you’ll need them and they are so easy to fit in a carry-on.

I always make sure to have one in my bag!!!

Also, wet wipes are amazing. If your hands become dirty or something spills you’ll have them handy.

I recommend always packing tissues and wet wipes where ever you go!

Overall

This is how I pack my carry-on for my travels.

Also for safety reason and due to the current situation, don’t forget to pack a mask and hand sanitiser.

Let me know what are your essentials?!

See you next week with a new blog post.

Yours truly,

E.xxx
